Associate Professor Elisa Araldi

Group Leader

I am an Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Group Leader of Systems Medicine at the University of Parma. I also have an appointment as Junior Group Leader at the Universitätsmedizin Mainz, at the Department of Cardiology, and I am a DZHK Principal Investigator.

I have studied Molecular Biology at the University of Pisa and Scuola Normale Superiore (Italy), and then moved for my PhD in Pathobiology and Translational Medicine at the New York University and Yale University (USA), where I studied cholesterol biosynthesis. After my postdoctoral training at ETH Zurich (Switzerland), in the fields of diabetes and longevity (Stoffel and Ristow laboratories), I was appointed Junior Professor at the University of Mainz (Germany), and then Assistant Professor at the University of Parma. A molecular biologist by training, now I am also using big data to understand molecular mechanisms in physiology.

I am passionate about gender equality in STEM and actively working to amplify the voices of young researchers in the academic community.
